O líder do grupo mercenário Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, ordenou que sua tropa, que estava a caminho de Moscou, retornasse ao acampamento, para evitar derramamento de sangue.
Eles estavam a apenas 200 quilómetros da capital russa. O líder do grupo acusa o ministro da Defesa russo de matar seus homens.
A Rússia acusou o chefe do grupo Wagner de convocar um motim armado. Em pronunciamento, o presidente do país, Vladimir Putin, disse que não iria deixar uma guerra civil se instalar no país.
Segundo a agência Reuters, a decisão de interromper o movimento do grupo Wagner na Rússia foi intermediada pelo presidente bielorrusso, Alexander Lukashenko, em troca de garantias de segurança. Vladimir Putin não comentou sobre o acordo.
