A modernização do armamento das polícias de São Paulo teve mais um reforço nesta segunda-feira (26/6) com 414 novos fuzis ARAD calibre 5,56x45mm para a Polícia Civil. As novas armas da empresa IWI tiveram investimento estadual de R$ 8.698.396,57 e segue o padrão pela aquisição de armas de qualidade e das mais novas tecnologias do mercado internacional. Em março deste ano, já tinha sido entregue à Polícia Judiciária do Estado 5 mil pistolas Glock 9mm com R$ 9,4 milhões empenhados. Ambos os contratos foram assinados em 2022.
A atual gestão vem aprimorando as aquisições e desde janeiro assinou outros quatro contratos para 1.706 armas entre elas: 800 espingardas, 700 submetralhadoras, 200 fuzis e seis metralhadoras leves com investimento total ultrapassando R$22,3 milhões. As entregas destas armas estão previstas a partir de outubro deste ano, a depender da liberação do Exército.
A Polícia Civil também está na tratativa de adquirir 134 armas de incapacitação neuromuscular (AINM) da empresa AXON ENTERPRISE INC com previsão de mais R$ 1 milhão.
